The Million Dollar Homepage PHP Script was made publicly available in September 2005. It was the first open source script of this type. It allows people to buy pixels on your website to place their ads there. They buy groups of pixels which are displayed in an image map that links to the advertiser’s website. The script has every function to organize easy-to-use and efficient service to sell pixels.
Operation
The script automates the sale of pixels to the most possible extent. After you install the script, it will be functioning without requiring much assistance or maintenance from you.
Those who wish to buy ad space can order it and make payments via PayPal, 2Checkout, etc. Payments can be processed both manually by the administrator and automatically with the help of a callback system.
- In order to purchase a block of pixels, the customer chooses the pixels he needs, which are automatically reserved so that nobody else could buy them in the meantime.
- After the payment is made, the pixels change their state to “sold”. They can also be reverted to “available” if the order is dismissed. Orders with payments already made can be cancelled only by the administrator.
- Customers select the text, link and picture to be displayed.
- The administrator moderates the uploaded materials and can refuse to accept an image or the order on the whole.
- The script provides the administrator with HTML code to insert a pixel picture in any place on the website. With this script, you can either make a single page for the script or display pixel ads anywhere on your website.
